Pradeep Ramlall

Ghazipur Literature Festival presented by Bharat Dialogues welcomes Pradeep Ramlall as our esteemed special guest. Pradeep Ramlall is a prominent South African community leader and the secretary of the Global Girmitiya Centre – South Africa. He has been instrumental in advocating for the recognition and preservation of the history and culture of the Girmitiya community, descendants of Indian indentured laborers who arrived in South Africa in 1860. He played a pivotal role in the establishment of the 1860 Indian Indentured Labourers Monument in Durban, ensuring that the struggles and contributions of his ancestors are honored. He continues to work towards unifying the global Girmitiya diaspora through cultural events and educational initiatives.
