Kalpana Patowary
Eminent Classical Vocalist
Ghazipur Literature Festival presented by Bharat Dialogues welcomes Kalpana Patowary as our esteemed performer. Kalpana, known widely as the "Bhojpuri Queen," is a versatile folk and playback singer from Assam, trained in Hindustani Classical music at Bhatkhande Sangeet Institute. She began performing publicly at age four under the guidance of her father, a folk singer, mastering Assamese Kamrupiya and Goalporiya traditions. She has sung in over thirty languages, tackled rare Bhojpuri folk styles like Chhaprahiya Purvi and Khadi Birha, and brought out albums honouring legends like Bhikhari Thakur. She has earned acclaim across India for her powerful voice, cultural revival efforts, and boundary-crossing musical journeys.
