Fouzia Dastango
Eminent Storyteller and India's First Female Dastango
Ghazipur Lit Fest presented by Bharat Dialogues is glad to welcome Fouzia Dastango as our esteemed speaker. Fouzia Dastango is India’s first female storyteller of the ancient art of Dastangoi. She loved arts and theatre from a young age but worked as a teacher for many years. In 2006, she watched a Dastangoi performance and fell in love with it. She then dedicated herself to learning and practicing this art full time. Fouzia left her teaching job to become a professional Dastango. She also teaches others and helps children learn storytelling. She works with organizations like INTECH, conducting workshops and inspiring new artists in this beautiful tradition.
