Dr. Akhilesh Mishra took charge as Ambassador of India to Ireland on October 6, 2021, bringing over three decades of Indian Foreign Service experience. A gold‑medalist mechanical engineer from IIT‑BHU, he has held high‑impact roles: Ambassador to Maldives, Consul General in Toronto, DG of ICCR, and Head of Development Partnership Administration. In Dublin, he has led cultural‑diplomatic initiatives—from Sanskrit‑heritage lectures to research collaborations with Tyndall Institute, energizing India‑Ireland ties. An outspoken public voice too, Mishra made headlines in April 2024 by defending India’s democracy and praising PM Modi in a letter to The Irish Times—a rare diplomatic intervention that sparked debate.
